You Can’t Touch This: Boy Racer in Citroen Saxo has Cops Running in Circles

A rather foxy yet clearly irresponsible teenage driver of a Citroen Saxo had British police running in circles –literally- in a chase that took place at the Hams Hall industrial estate near Coleshill, England, last month during a police crackdown on what they call illegal car cruise events.

One of the spectators who had stopped on the side of the road to enjoy the chase filmed the young man’s shenanigans and uploaded the video on Youtube for all to see.

It all started when an unmarked Seat Leon hatchback pursued the driver of the silver Saxo who managed to escape by speeding up, down and even in…reverse on the busy highway.

Today’s Cars Are Nigh Impossible to Steal, Says Motor Industry

In the UK, car theft is down by more than 60% over the last seven years thanks to improvements in anti-theft technology. Coded car keys, alarms, immobilisers, better locks, strengthened glass and built-in tracking devices have made the modern automobile virtually impossible to steal.

Some 80% of car thefts now require would-be thieves to steal the owner’s keys or otherwise load their targets onto trailers for transport. And even then, tracking systems in some high-end cars mean these cars are recovered rather quickly.

Totally Blacked Out Citroen C6

Though not as near as menacing as the matte black C3 Corvette that we showed you earlier today, this black-themed Citroen C6 does look bad enough to make you wonder whether or not it’s hiding a pack of well dressed and armed chaps inside its luxurious interior. The all-black version of Citroen’s rang-topping model was created by the team running the French edition of Intersection magazine. –More pics after the jump

Squashed Citroen C-Triomphe Makes it out Alive from Chinese Earthquake

The Citroen C-Triomphe (sedan version of the C4 hatchback) pictured above was one of the less significant causalities of the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit central China earlier this month. Nevertheless, it is amazing –and horrifying at the same time- that the owner (?) of the car was actually able to drive it on the road despite the heavy damages. -One more pic after the jump

Video: Chevrolet Ridicules Citroen’s C4 Transformer Ad

You probably all remember Citroen’s illustrious C4 Transformer TV spots a couple of years ago (click here). Well, GM woke up on the wrong side of the bed one day and decided that it was time to answer back with its new Chevrolet Aveo advert. Even though the car that transforms into a robot is in part a previous generation Ford Focus, it is evident that GM’s intentions are to spoof Citroen’s Transformer ads by addressing its vehicles’ electronic reliability issues. -Video after the jump

Citroen & Peugeot Announce New 1.0-Liter 3-Cylinder Engine with 70 to 100Hp

The French car group PSA Peugeot Citroen has announced plans to develop a new family of 1.0-litre 3 cylinder petrol engines with power ranging from 70 to 100 Hp. Although neither Citroen nor Peugeot gave any specific details, apparently the most powerful versions of the 3-cylinder unit will be turbocharged. PSA said that the new engine line-up will bring very significant reductions in CO2 consumptions and emissions. The aim is to offer the market vehicles with CO2 emissions below 100g/km without using any additional technology. -Continued

The second facility will be set up in Eastern Europe by 2012. PSA Peugeot Citroen has begun canvassing several countries in this region and according to their plan, the choice will be made in the middle of this year.

Cool Creations with Citroen Car Parts

French carmaker Citroen launched an online contest called “C-Design” aimed at web-savvy aficionados with the brief to utilise Citroën vehicle parts to design an object intended for everyday use. A jury of senior design figures including Citroën’s Head of Styling, Jean Pierre Ploué checked out thousands of design submissions, including a telephone made from a door handle, a staircase constructed from rear spoilers and a seat made from the bonnet of a C1 city car. -Continued

The €10,000 first prize in the final of Citroën’s International competition went to Ognyan Bozhilov from Bulgaria who designed a n ultra cool snow sledge constructed from Citroen car parts including a C4 Picasso’s rear seat, a C3 steering wheel, a C3 Pluriel’s roof pillars and the spoiler from a C4 Coupe.

Second place went to Roland Kaufmann from Austria, for his Citroën drain-cover concept made from a C4’s alloy rim and third place to Italian Valerio Stamaccioni, for his design which uses recycled glass from Citroën side windows to create a free-standing sculpture of glass sheets covered with special filters that play with the ambient lighting to create different optical effects. 2009 Citroën C-Elysee Facelift for the Chinese Market

Citroen has announced that it will unveil a facelift version of its C-Elysee compact sedan at this year’s Beijing Motor Show (April 20 -28). Produced in China by Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobiles (DPCA), the C-Elysee is basically a sedan variant of the long-gone Citroen ZX hatch that was sold in Europe in the early 1990’s.

The facelift version of the Chinese market C-Elysée is recognisable by its new looking front end that’s inspired from Citroen’s latest European models. Additionally, the revised C-Elysée gains new alloy wheels and “three-dimensional” rear lights while the cabin gets new front seats and lighter colours. The new range features three trim levels and five versions, fitted with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder 16V engine. Citroen C2 1587 Brutale: Special Edition Inspired from MV Augusta

We don’t know about you, but the last thing that comes to our mind when we think of the Citroen C2 VTS is an exotic, naked Italian motorcycle like the MV Augusta Brutale 1078 RR. Apparently Citroen and MV Augusta disagree so that’s why the teamed up to create a special version of the top-end C2 VTS inspired from the Brutale. Based on the C2 VTS that’s equipped with a 125 Hp 1.6-liter engine, the C2 1587 Brutale was shown at the “My Special Car Show” in Rimini, Italy.

The special edition C2 features the same pearl white and black colour scheme as the Brutale 1078 RR. Likewise, the C2’s motorcycle-inspired interior is equipped with perforated alcantara seats with a Brutale logo, black leather detail trim with red stitching, steering wheel in black alcantara with red stitching and carbon-fibre trim on the dashboard and the foot plate. 2009 Citroen C2 Facelift: Visual Enhancements and new 110 Hp 1.6L Diesel

For the 2009 Model Year, Citroen has enhanced the C2 hatchback by subtlety redesigning the minicar’s front end and adding a new diesel engine option. The 2009 C2 hatch is distinguished by the new fascia with changes including a redesigned bumper and a new radiator grille with wider and bigger chevrons.

From May 2008, depending on the country, the C2 diesel range will be enhanced with the addition of PSA Peugeot-Citroen’s 1.6-liter HDi engine with a particulate filter. The new unit generates 110 Hp at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 240 Nm at 1,750 rpm. According to the French carmaker, the C2 1.6 HDi 110 DPFS consumes just 4.4 l/100 km or 53.5 MPG (not bad, wouldn’t you say?) over a standard combined cycle for CO2 emissions of 119 g/km. –Continued after the jump

The new C2 diesel version also features new suspension upgrades that include stiffer springs at the front (65% damping instead of 75%); a stiffer anti-roll bar (diameter increased from 18 mm to 20 mm at the front and from 20.5 mm to 24 mm at the rear); decoupled suspension uprights and front and rear damping control adapted to the car's dynamic characteristics while also optimising suspension comfort. Additionaly, the C2 1.6 HDi’s variable-assistance electric power steering features a new high-precision control system that adapts power to the characteristics of this vehicle.
