Video: Mercedes-Benz Stars in Transformers 3 Premiere

The third installment of the popular Transformers movies, "Dark of the Moon", directed by Michael Bay and produced by none other than Steven Spielberg, has made its premiere in Berlin.

Of course, all the stars including Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, John Torturo, Patrick Dempsey and the gorgeous Victoria’s Secret model-turned-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, were present. But since the movie is about cars, and even though the franchise features a lot of Chevrolet models, Mercedes-Benz was also present with the E-Class playing an Autobot (the good guys) and the SLS AMG appearing on screen as Huntington-Whiteley’s car.

Cake Boss Transforms Bumblebee into a 2,000-Pound Cookie Monster

The King of Overkill has Found his Queen in Toronto

And by “King of Overkill” we mean, of course, the….how should we put this delicately… excessively ornamented Porsche Cayenne SUV photographed outside a dollar store in Ontario, Canada, last week by Carscoop reader Jonathan Fernando.

This blonde Swedish diva [aka a previous generation Volvo S40 finished in a yellow hue] was spotted all dressed up and ready to meet the king of her dreams at a parking lot in Toronto, Canada, by another one of our readers, James Dong.

Wow! Buy A Real Chevy Aveo, Get A Free Aveo Transformer...

In every cool group of kids, there’s always one outcast. This was my first thought when I saw “Swerve”, the Autobot Transformer that turns into an…. Aveo. This poor Autobot probably gets as much grief about his disguise as you would if you actually bought the Aveo as part of the GM promotion to get your hands on one of the limited 2,000 figurine pieces. The collectible made its way on eBay, but since the bidding has concluded, you’ll have to actually buy (God forbid) the Aveo to get your hands on Swerve. Transformers: The Real Robots in Disguise

Here’s another example of useless toys that we love because they evoke childhood nostalgia. From what we gather, these actual transforming car/robots went on exhibit at what seems to be a Japanese tech show. The video demonstrates a toy car made out of something that resembles a child’s erector set but with far more technology. The car then transforms into a mobile robot and then back into a car again. Everything in this presentation is completely authentic meaning there’s not special effects, just good old fashion brain technology the way every Transformer should be built!

eBay: Chevy Camaro "Bumblebee" From Transformers!

With the Transformers movie breaking all records in its first week at the box office, we’re seeing all kinds of memorabilia emerging from the original show. This 1977 Chevy Camaro, that played Bumblebee, is being auctioned off on eBay. Priced at just over $24,000, whatever the final bid price is, all of the proceeds will be donated to the Fischer House Foundation, helping veterans by building homes for their families and other injured military personal. We consider this buy, not only a total deal but a piece of present day Hollywood and a nostalgic part of our early days.

Chinese Transformer’s: Knock-Off’s in Disguise

Chinese automaker, Great Wall, is at it again. This time, they’re knocking off our beloved “robots in disguise”, The Transformers, in order to promote their own knock off vehicles. With the opening of the new Transformers movie, what better way to show off the Chinese copy-cat skills than to make some knock off robots and match them with profiles, silly names and their own “original vehicles”. Take for example “Florida” which transforms into a 3.91 meter tall robot from a knock of Toyota. But after we learned that this particular robot “identifies most with Paris Hilton”, we completely lost all respect. Other fake-o characters include Perry, i7 and Coolbear. Beware for those knock-off Chinese Transformers because ultimately, they are “less than meets the eye.”

LOS ANGELES- Four new movie stars - "Bumblebee," "Autobot Jazz," "Autobot Ratchet" and "Ironhide" - from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures,' in association with Hasbro's, forthcoming July 4th action-adventure release, "Transformers™," were introduced this evening by General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) as it hosted its sixth annual "ten" pre-Oscar fashion event at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood.

"Bumblebee" changes from the classic Chevrolet Camaro, and is a central character in the saga of aliens who take mechanical forms when on Earth. "Autobot Jazz" converts from a Pontiac Solstice in a hardtop format. They all star in this summer's live-action blockbuster, "Transformers," from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, which will premiere July 4.

Buzz about the roles that these vehicles play in the movie has been spreading since a quick glimpse of the new Camaro was spotted in Paramount's newest "Transformers" trailer, which began appearing in theaters on Dec. 20, 2006. This clip, which is currently the most-viewed movie trailer on Yahoo!, also contains images of the Solstice, H2 and TopKick for fans who were quick enough to have freeze-framed it.

"'Transformers' is a compelling project and offers us a global platform for marketing GM products and building our brands," said Mike Jackson, GM North America vice president, marketing and advertising. "It represents the perfect intersection of entertainment, marketing and design."

"The first time I saw the new Camaro, while touring the GM Design Center, I knew immediately that it would be the perfect 'Bumblebee,'" said Michael Bay, the film's Director. He continued, "It's got beautiful lines and a classic, timeless look. There were no other cars that came even close. I have had a great working relationship with GM for many years and am psyched to be working with them on 'Transformers.'"

Having integrated the cars as characters in the film is truly an innovative concept that will help eventize this exciting 4th of July tentpole film."

GM will roll out a fully integrated marketing and promotional effort around the film in the near future, including a major Chevrolet promotion, according to Jackson. Images, scenes and clips - all things "Transformers" - may be found at the official Web site: http://www.transformersmovie.com.
