Toyota Forklift Comes to the Rescue of Chevrolet Camaro Stuck on a…Curb

It can’t get more embarrassing than this – well, that is, unless someone has footage showing us how the owner of the blue Chevrolet Camaro got himself in this sticky situation in the underground parking garage in the first place.

In the Youtube clip after the jump, we see the aftermath with a...Toyota-branded forklift trying to free Chevy’s pony car, but without any success. One very strange incident indeed.

GM Claims it has Received 10,000 Pre-Orders for new Camaro

Even though the all-new Camaro has yet to hit Chevy's showroom floors, General Motors reported that it has received some 10,000 pre-orders for the retro-penned sports car. The announcement was made by GM's head of North American marketing and sales, Mark LaNeve. The new Camaro will be offered with a base 3.8-liter V6 with 300HP and a 6.2-liter V8 unit developing 400HP when hooked up to an auto transmission and 422HP when matted to a 6-speed manual.

The first Camaros are scheduled to arrive in customer hands in February 2009, however, there may be a delay due to a dispute with GM's interior parts supplier Cadence Innovation that went bankrupt recently. GM had given parts and machines to Cadence to make the Camaro parts. Since Cadence went out of business, it was supposed to return the equipment immediately, but that has not happened and now GM is suing its former supplier.

According to General Motors, if it does not manage to get the machines back from Cadence by January 12, then the start of production of the Camaro will most probably be delayed.

Would You Buy a 4-Cylinder Camaro, Challenger or Mustang?

Speaking at the New York Auto Show, GM’s Vice Chairman Bob Lutz revealed that General Motors is considering a 4-cylinder engine for the new Chevrolet Camaro if fuel prices continue to hike. In particular, Lutz said that the drivetrain under consideration is the 260 Hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit from the Pontiac Solstice GXP.

Now that made us think how V6 and V8-hungry American buyers would react to a 4-cylinder-powered muscle car, even if we’re talking about a modern, high-output, turbocharged unit. Our question is simple; would you prefer a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine over a naturally aspirated V6 unit with a similar output but with better fuel economy ratings and lower emissions on a Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro or Dodge Challenger? Tell us what you think in the comment section below. (Pic: rezza foournito)

Lutz: GM Considering 2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder Engine for New Camaro!

Sacrilege? Well maybe for some, but in our books, it’s totally okay if that’s what it takes to keep cars like the Camaro alive and kicking. According to GM’s Vice President Bob Lutz who spoke to journalist on the sidelines of the New York auto show, if fuel prices continue to increase, GM is considering to response with a four-cylinder engine for the new Chevrolet Camaro.

Luckily, GM is not thinking about any 4-cylinder unit, but for the same 260 HP, 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injected four-cylinder that’s used in the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky roadsters. –Continued after the jump

GM’s current plans for the Camaro that’s expected in the US market next February include V6 and V8 units. Whaile there’s no official info on the V8 powertrain(s), at the NY Show opening, Lutz confirmed that the V6 Camaro will be powered by a detuned version of the Cadillac CTS’ 3.6-liter V6 unit developing around 260 Hp. According to Lutz, the V6 Camaro should be able to get an avg. fuel consumption of 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. (Photo edited by rezza foournito)

Video: 2009 Camaro Caught on Tape without Camo

Yep; the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro has been caught again unmasked. Only this time the fella that managed to capture it was holding a video device (possibly a cell phone judging by the poor quality), instead of a photographic camera. We must say however that we easily could have done without the movie-type intro and the rock and roll music… -Video after the jump

2009 Camaro: Unmasked Black Prototype Scooped

General Motors had “warned” us about their decision to remove the camouflage off all Camaro pre-production prototypes and here’s one of the first cars to be caught on film by a non-professional. The pictures where shot by Corey R., a member of the Chevy loving forum at “Camaro5”. Corey spotted the unmasked test car on Fletcher Ave. and he followed it until the driver pulled into an office complex to turn around. The Camaro’s driver allowed him to take as many pictures as he could, as long as he didn’t take any of the interior. However, we did manage to magnify one of the cabin as you can see in the image gallery after the jump. –Continued
