Ings+1 Releases N-Spec Aero Kit for Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X

Being one of the most popular cars amongst tuners, there's always something new for the Lancer EVO X. The latest developments come from Japanese tuner Ings+1 that introduced a new aero kit consisting of an extra-large rear wing and a front bumper and grille assembly. The kit, which is supposedly inspired from Ings+1's racing EVO Xs, will be available from early 2009.

South Yorkshire Police Completes Mitsubishi Lancer EVO Trilogy

If there's a reason to feel jealous for the folks in blue at UK's South Yorkshire Police department that has to be their garage which was recently enhanced with the addition of a new Police specification Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. The new car will be used alongside the ever present Evolution VIII and IX in the Road Crime Unit where proactive road policing is the mission and officers will be driving the EVOs in cases involving drug dealers and car thieves. "The Evo X was the car of choice because of its excellent pursuit capabilities and the fact that so much time and effort has been put into maximizing performance whilst minimising the risk of accidents" commented Inspector Slack.

New Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X FQ-400: Limited Edition with 405HP

Mitsubishi EVO X FQ-400The Brits have developed a special fondness for tuning Mitsubishi EVOs the past few years with the most impressing version being the FQ-400 - and yes, FQ actually does stand for F***** Quick as it's an internal code which somehow passed into "production"... For those of you that missed the FQ400, you'll be happy to learn that Mitsubishi UK and its race team builder ADR Motorsport is bringing back the iconic nameplate on the latest iteration of the Lancer EVO.

Mitsubishi EVO X FQ-400In what promises to be the fastest (and most expensive) EVO yet, the Lancer EVO X FQ-400 will pack a souped-up version of the standard car's 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a new ECU and exhaust system to produce around 405HP and 400lb-ft of torque. That should be good enough to propel the EVO from standstill to 60mph (96 km/h) in around 3,5 - 3,7 sec. Comparatively, the 354HP EVO X FQ360 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4,1 sec.

As with the FQ-360 version, Mitsubishi UK will offer the FQ-400 exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox as the company is still reluctant to match the engine's 400 lb-ft of torque with the quick and efficient dual-clutch SST (Sports Shift Transmission).

Mitsubishi EVO X FQ-400Along with the engine upgrades, the FQ400 will also benefit from a new body kit with additional cooling intakes and vents, 18-inch alloy wheels and larger brakes with six-pot calipers at the front.

Mitsubishi has yet to (officially) release details, but according to Autocar magazine, the Japanese firm indicated that the car will cost somewhere north of £45,000 with only 100 units planned to be produced.

Video Comparison: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X vs BMW 135i Coupe

Theoretically, the BMW 135i Coupe isn’t the first car that comes up to mind as a competitor to the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X, however, we totally agree with the guys at Motor Trend that say that both vehicles are aimed towards driving enthusiasts and as such, everything goes.

In a nutshell, the 135i is a 2+2 rear-wheel drive coupe equipped with a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter straight-six developing 300Hp while the EVO X, a four-door sedan equipped with a high-tech all-wheel drive system and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. As usual, we won’t spoil the surprise by telling you who's the winner in this comparison test. -Follow the jump for the video

Detroit Show: 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart 240 HP – Low Cost EVO X!

Without doubt, the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart is one of the most anticipated cars of the year for all us nutty gearheads with a limited budget in our hands. If Mitsubishi plays its cards right in terms of pricing when sales start in the US this summer, the Lancer Ralliart has the potential to become an instant success. Heck, if it's good we'd even call it the.. ECO X!

The Ralliart is practically a toned down version of the new EVO X. Not only is it powered by the same new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine (detuned however to develop 240 HP), but it is also matted to the EVO X’s Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission and it features a full-time 4WD driveline with Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD)
. Design-wise, the Lancer Ralliart is distinguished by the new front bumper design, rear air dam, dual mufflers and an intake in the lightweight aluminum engine hood that delivers cooling air to the turbocharger. Thanks for the tip Matthias! -Details and pics after the jump

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart 240 HP Scooped Undisguised?

To answer our own question, we’d say that even though we can’t be 100 percent certain, the Lancer featured in the above picture sure looks like it’s the real deal. In a previous release back in mid-December, Mitsubishi had revealed that the upcoming Lancer Ralliart, which will compete head on with the Subaru Impreza WRX, will feature an aluminum bonnet panel, Recaro front seats, sports steering wheel with paddle shift and a Ralliart radiator grille. There’s no way of seeing the Recaro seats and the steering wheel, but the bonnet is straight off the EVO X while the radiator grille features the Ralliart logo. -Continued after the jump

As we told you in our previous post on the Lancer Ralliart, Mitsubishi’s WRX hunter will be equipped with a detuned version the EVO X’s 2.0 litre Turbo Engine delivering 240 HP coupled with a 6-speed Twin Clutch - SST transmission and with a full-time 4WD system with Active Yaw Control and Active Centre Differential.

Motortrend Pits The Lancer EVO X Against The EVO IX

Even before anyone drove the all-new Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X, there was plenty of criticism from EVO fans that the new iteration of the model was not only heavier but also more civilized than its predecessor. Motortend magazine decided to pit the two versions against each other to see whether the EVO fans were right or not.

Here’s what Motortrends senior editor Ed Loh had to say about it after testing both cars: “The clarity and rawness of the IX has been smoothed over in the X, with no replacement in terms of excitement. Though the X may be more proper and polished when it speaks to you, the IX tells better stories.” Check out the full story by clicking the link below.
