The Inspirational Archer without Arms Changes Pontiac Brakes with Feet

Matt Stutzsman is one truly gifted and talented individual whose attitude should be an inspiration to all. You see, Stutzsman was born without arms. And yet, despite all the challenges, he managed to adapt and do everything on his own using his legs and feet.

The 29-year old man from Iowa, whose birth parents gave him up for adoption when he has was just four months old because they couldn’t deal with the idea of raising a child with special needs (or so they thought), just recently qualified from the U.S. Olympic team in archery!

R.I.P.: GM Cancels 2010 Pontiac G8 ST Sport Truck

Despite all the hype that Pontiac created for its Holden Commodore Ute based G8 ST, General Motors has decided to cancel the sports truck that was scheduled to hit U.S. dealerships this fall. The announcement was made today to the company's dealers. From the looks of it, GM is planning to reduce Pontiac's line-up to only a few models in order to create a 'niche brand' as promised in its bailout plan to Congress at the end of 2008.

"With Pontiac being more focused on sporty fun to drive cars, we took a long look at the ST and it didn't fit with what our future vision of Pontiac would be," Hopson told Automotive News. "At that point, we decided to not proceed with this vehicle." Smart move or a mistake on GM's behalf? Have your say in the comment section below.

GM May Reduce Pontiac Line-Up to Just One Model - Which One Should it be?

When it comes to survival, then nothing's absurd. In order for General Motors to stay afloat in these tough economic times, the U.S. automaker has to revaluate its entire strategy and make decisions that were unthinkable up until now - including the shrinkage of Pontiac which currently sells six-model (G8, G6, G5, Solstice, Vibe, and Torrent). "It might be just one model," Mark LaNeve, GM's North American sales chief, said in an interview. The firm that was supposed to build exciting cars has seen drop in sales every year since 1999. In the first 11 months of 2008, sales of the Pontiac brand are down 23 percent from a year earlier to 250,902 units.

"The one remaining Pontiac model would be sold alongside Buicks and GMCs, on a scale similar to its Corvette available in Chevrolet showrooms", LaNeve told Bloomberg. The question is, if GM decided to keep the Pontiac nameplate alive and not can the brand entirely, which car should remain?

According to John Wolkonowicz, an analyst from IHS Global Insight in Lexington, Massachusetts, that model will most likely be the Holden Commodore based G8 sedan which was introduced this year in the U.S. market.

But honestly now, is there a point of GM holding onto the Pontiac brand with a one-model range when it is facing such serious problems that threaten the company's existence?

If the General believes -for whatever reasons- that it needs the G8, why not just sell it under the Chevy nameplate? Yes, once upon a time Pontiac made cars that stood out from the competition and filled GM's pockets with money, but times change and if you can't support a brand with its own unique line-up then we find no reason to keep it alive for sentimental's sake.

Face-Off: Transform Your Pontiac G8 into a Holden Commodore or HSV GTS

Like they say, there's nothing like the original. However, if you want our opinion, in the case of the Holden Commodore we prefer the twin nostril fascia of its Americanized sibling, the Pontiac G8. The HSV GTS is another story as Holden's officially designated performance division has done wonders on the Commodore's appearance. Either way, if you happen to own a Pontiac G8 and dig the original look of its 'down-under' comrade or the kick-ass sporty looks of the HSV model, an Australian company called JHP Vehicle Enhancements will ship you a complete kit to perform the conversion. Prices start off from $1,990 US for the Commodore package and from $3,880 for the HSV GTS kit. Check out the details after the jump.

eBay: 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Bandit Signed by Burt Reynolds

Just so we can make it clear from the beginning, this fully restored 1978 Pontiac Trans Am is a Bandit replica that has nothing to do with any of the original cars that stared along with Burt Reynolds in the “Smokey and the Bandit” movie series.

Instead, this particular Trans Am that’s equipped with a massive 6.6-liter V8 220Hp engine was loaned to Burt Reynolds to drive while he was helping the “YearOne” company design the new “Burt Builds a Bandit” car.

For what it’s worth, Reynolds has signed the car and the winning bidder will also receive various Burt Reynolds memorabilia like a hat, shirt and a signed picture. The current bid on eBay is approx $46k. –More pictures after the jump

Pontiac G8 Sport Truck Name – Last Call

In a few hours, Pontiac's "Name the G8 Sport Truck"online competition will end so if any of you have any interesting ideas, you'd better hurry up and submit your proposition ASAP. Here at rezza foournito we conducted our own "name the G8 pick-up truck" competition and we received many answers. However, there was one particular naming proposition submitted by an anonymous reader of ours that made us laugh hysterically: "How about Ute-r-us, to attract the female buyer?" Witty to say the least...

GM Recalling Supercharged Buick Regal & Pontiac Grand Prix Sedans

Today’s recall concerns 207,542 MY 1997-2003 Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles equipped with a 3.8L supercharged V6 engine. According to GM, engine oil can leak from the valve cover and migrate during manoeuvres such as hard braking. If by any chance the oil reaches the hot exhaust manifold, it may ignite causing an underhood fire.

Unfortunately for the owners of the affected Regal and Grand Prix models, GM stated that that there’s a current shortage of spare parts. What GM recommends that owners do until sufficient parts become available, is that they take the following precautions:

    1. It is strongly recommend that owners do not park their vehicle in a garage, car port, or other structure
    2. If owners notice a burning odor, they should have their dealer inspect the vehicle. The dealer will inspect the vehicle without charge
    3. Use premium fuel (91 octane or higher) in the vehicle as recommended in the vehicle's owner manual.

If you still have any questions, we’d advise you to contact Buick at 1-866-608-8080 or Pontiac at 1-800-620-7668.

1964 Pontiac Bunshee Coupe Concept for Sale on e-Bay for $1.5 Million

This truly beautiful and one-of-a-kind Pontiac concept car is up for sale on e-Bay with the “Buy it Now” price set at a whopping $1.5 million. Designed by GM Executive John Delorean to compete against the Ford Mustang, the 1964 Banshee Coupe prototype used parts from the Pontiac Tempest. Unfortunately, GM’s product planners viewed the Banshee as a threat towards the more upscale Corvette and pulled the plug. As you can see however, the Banshee’s swoopy styling influenced several GM products including the… Corvette.

Story has it that GM wanted to scrap the car but an employee convinced GM’s execs to sell him the car. According to the seller, the 1964 Banshee car has been driven less than 1500 miles and only brought to car shows. As unique as it may be, we kinda think that $1.5 million is a lot of money… -Image gallery after the jump
