GM has released the first official video of its new BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK rival, the 2010 Cadillac SRX. The compact crossover-SUV-CUV-we don't know the difference any more, will be unveiled at the Detroit motor show in January with sales scheduled to start during the second quarter of 2009. Cadillac has not announced any details on the powertrain options -or at least not officially- but expect to see the SRX being offered in most markets with the CTS' duo of 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engines. As we were promised last week when it was officially announced that the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V lapped the Nurburgring race track in 7:59.32 which could possibly be the fastest recorded time for a production sedan on factory-spec street tires, GM released the video featuring driver John Heinricy behind the wheel of the CTS-V as he completed the allegedly record lap of the legendary Nordschleife. If there’s one thing we admire about car designers is the way they talk and Cadillac’s design director, Clay Dean, is no exception. Cadillac’s Detroit Show shocker is something more than a concept as it will form the base for a production version which, according to our information, will be launched into the market in late 2009 or early 2010. Despite being based on the new CTS, the CT Coupe Concept actually shares very few body parts with its sedan counterpart. Power will most probably come from the same V6 and V8 engine units as the CTS, including a top-notch CT-V variant equipped with GM’s new 6.2-liter supercharged V8 unit that pumps out 550 HP.
