The photos were shot from a distance with a cell phone camera, so it’s difficult to tell the brand and make of the vehicles. Our unnamed reader told us that the front end looked like a Cadillac but the rest of the car reminded him of a Buick, and we’ll agree with him.
The first recall concerns 6,768 units of the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon from the 2011MY due to a failure in a transmission clip that may not engage the “Parking” mode even though the driver has moved the lever to the appropriate position. GM’s dealers will repair the faulty automatic transmission free of charge, and the recall is expected to begin on July 19.

This is the second generation Cadillac SRX crossover that will be making its world debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week. Cadillac had offered us our first glimpse of its mid-size luxury crossover in August, 2008, but now, the American automaker has released detailed information as well as new photos. According to Cadillac, the new and more compact sized SRX will compete against the Lexus RX, Acura MDX, BWW X3 and X5. Due to go on sale in the second quarter of 2009, the SRX will be offered in North America with two petrol units, a new, 260HP 3.0-liter direct injected V6 and a 300HP 2.8-liter turbocharged V6.Both engines are hooked up to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Cadillac has yet to issue any specific figures, but the automaker supports that fuel economy will be in the mid-20s on the highway.
Unlike its rear-wheel / all-wheel drive predecessor, the new SRX gets front-wheel drive as standard and all-wheel drive as optional. The AWD system includes an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) that distributes torque as needed from side to side along the rear axle, as well as from the front to rear axle
"The 2010 SRX will deliver excellent, balanced driving dynamics in all types of weather," said Bob Reuter, global vehicle chief engineer. "The all-wheel-drive system with electronic limited slip effectively transfers torque not only from front to rear, but also along the rear axle. This system sets a new benchmark for all all-wheel-drive systems, giving the driver control and confidence on any road surface."
Among the new photos released by Cadillac is the first picture of the SRX's interior that bears many similarities with the CTS. "Inside the new SRX, technical precision blends with old-world craftsmanship," said Clay Dean, Cadillac global design director. "Hand-cut-and-sewn coverings on the instrument panel and ambient lighting details convey a finely tailored cabin."
The 2010 SRX's highlights include a "pop-up" navigation screen with three-dimensional imaging; adaptive forward lighting that swivels the headlamps in synch with vehicle steering; power liftgate with adjustable height setting; integrated hard disc drive for audio storage and a dual-screen system for rear entertainment.
Other features include standard head curtain side air bags, front seat-mounted pelvic/thorax side air bags, front safety belts with dual pretensioners and load limiters, rollover mitigation sensors, a pedal release system, trailer stability assist and OnStar.
GM has released the first official video of its new BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK rival, the 2010 Cadillac SRX. The compact crossover-SUV-CUV-we don't know the difference any more, will be unveiled at the Detroit motor show in January with sales scheduled to start during the second quarter of 2009. Cadillac has not announced any details on the powertrain options -or at least not officially- but expect to see the SRX being offered in most markets with the CTS' duo of 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engines. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall of 12,662 MY2009 Cadillac CTS vehicles due to a software problem within the passenger-airbag sensing system. The electronic glitch may lead to the disablement of the front passenger air bag when it should be enabled or vice-versa. GM's dealers will reprogram 2009 CTS' passenger sensing system module free of charge with the recall expected to begin on or about November 18, 2008.
GM has released a new image gallery of its 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon containing material from a shootout in Paris that provides us with some neat photos of the stylish estate in the picturesque capital of France. Furthermore, the company also published a few more detailed shots of the upscale station-wagon that is due to go on sale on both sides of the Atlantic in spring 2009. Like the CTS sedan, the Sport Wagon will be offered with a base 263HP 3.6-liter V6 and a 304 Hp 3.6-liter direct injection V6 matched with either a six-speed manual or an electronically controlled six-speed automatic. European consumers will also be able to opt for a diesel variant equipped with GM's 250HP 2.9-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine.
We already knew that Cadillac was planning a sporty station-wagon version of the new CTS; we just didn’t know how it would look like. This screen picture that was forwarded to our friends over at Jalopnik allegedly comes from a Harris Opinion Survey about the upcoming CTS Sport Wagon. While we can’t be 100% sure, it does look like it’s the real thing.Judging from the scans, the CTS Sport Wagon that will compete against the BMW 3-Series Touring and the Audi A4 Avant, looks the part, especially in concern of the rear-end design with the cool back-hugging tail-lamps. Pictures aside, the poll also reveals significant details on the CTS Sport Wagon including the price range ($37,500 to $42,500), the initial engine line-up (260Hp 3.0-liter V6 & 304Hp 3.6-liter V6) and that an all-wheel drive version will be offered. -Continued
As we were promised last week when it was officially announced that the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V lapped the Nurburgring race track in 7:59.32 which could possibly be the fastest recorded time for a production sedan on factory-spec street tires, GM released the video featuring driver John Heinricy behind the wheel of the CTS-V as he completed the allegedly record lap of the legendary Nordschleife. During testing today at The 2009 CTS-V, which is undergoing the final stages of testing and development is equipped with GM’s new 6.2-litre Supercharged V8 engine that develops an estimated 550Hp. That’s the same unit found in the also new Corvette ZR1 (see here). Only difference is that in the much lighter Vette, the supercharged V8 generates an awesome 638Hp. Though not officially confirmed, a top-of-the-line “V” model of Cadillac’s upcoming CTS Coupe (based on the Detroit Show concept) is probably in the works as there’s no better way of promoting a car like this than creating a “halo” version. As these photo illustrations created by Nick Wilcox for Insideline suggest, apart from receiving GM’s supercharged 550Hp 6.2-liter V8 engine, Cadillac’s answer to the BMW M3 will also feature an aggressive bodykit to help it stand out from the standard versions. Somewhere in-between the two girls you see in the picture above is the 2008 Cadillac CTS dressed in “D3’s” new performance exterior package. The American based tuning firm that specializes on Caddys, offers a full bodykit that includes front and rear lips, a new stainless steel wire-mesh grille, side skirts, a rear deck lid spoiler and a rear roof spoiler.
