Frankfurt Review: Artega GT

Even though the Artega GT had been already been previewed at the Geneva Show back in March, the sports coupe still managed to draw a lot of attention from the Frankfurt Show crowd with its semi-exotic looks and its reasonable price -€74,948 or $104,000 in Germany with taxes. Equipped with a VW sourced, 300 Hp 3.6 liter V6 engine sitting right behind the driver, the rear-wheel drive Artega GT sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in less than 5,0 sec while claiming a top speed in excess of 270 km/h (169mph). We’ve no idea how the Artega GT may be on the road, but it sure won our vote with its simple, yet sexy looks. Sales of the Artega are set to start in early 2008. -Specs and pics after the jump

Artega GT: VW 3.2 V6 FSI powered sports car premieres in Geneva

Unlike its exotic appearance suggests, the Artega GT which will debut in a couple of days at the Swiss Show is a production model that’ll be manufactured in a limited series of 500 units per year. Its designed by Henry Fisker who’s not only responsible for many of the current Aston Martins like the DB9 Volante but also as most of you remember, for the BMW 645i and Mercedes AMG SL55 based Latigo CS & Tramonto concepts.-Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the rest of the article plus four more images

Despite the fact that Artega hasn’t released any official facts (or pictures for that matter…) we managed to "scoop" out some info. Powered by a slightly tuned version of VW’s 3.6 V6 FSI pumping out 300Hp, the mid-engined, rear-wheel drive biased GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h – 62mph in less than 5,0 sec and it reaches a maximum speed of about 270 km/h – 169mph. Roughly the size of a Mazda Miata / MX-5 (3,950 x 1,880 x 1,180 mm), Artega’s two seater sports car will be sold worldwide from the middle of 2008 for an approximate price of 75.000 EUR – 99.000 USD
