2008 Chevrolet Aveo: Kalos Redesigned And Renamed

Chevrolet’s European arm will introduce a revised version of the Kalos hatchback at the Frankfurt Show next month. Renamed after its sedan sibling, the Aveo hatch’s most prominent feature is the “up-your face” Chevy grille which gives it a muscular and ultra aggressive look which kinda hides the Kalos’ Korean heritage. Along with the new grille, Daewoo –err, I mean Chevrolet Europe also announced the addition of a new 84Hp 1.2-liter petrol engine in the B-Segment hatch's range. Sales in Europe will start in March 2008. -Press release and one more image after the jump

New Chevrolet Aveo celebrates its world premiere in Frankfurt

    • Striking exterior and high-class interior
    • Launch in Europe as of March 2008
    • Two petrol engines with 84 or 98 hp; manual or automatic transmission

Zurich. Chevrolet Europe will present the Kalos’ successor at the Frankfurt Motor Show (13 to 23 September 2007). The most significant features of this completely reworked model are its striking exterior, its high-class interior and a new, even more efficient petrol engine. Like its notchback stable mate, the new hatchback model will now bear the Aveo name throughout Europe. Sales will start in March 2008.

The Aveo hatchback sports Chevrolet’s new design features, as characterised by the big horizontally split radiator grille with a body-coloured crossbeam and the brand logo sitting prominently in the center. The dynamic detailing includes large, curved, clear-glass headlamps and fog lamps that project like spotlights from the lower part of the bumper. In profile, the body’s prominent shoulder lines catch the eye, while the back of the car is dominated by the solid bumper and the round tail lamps in a clear-glass housing.

There is a choice of two petrol engines: a new 1.2-litre unit with an output of 84 hp, and the existing 1.4-litre engine, which now develops 98 hp and is available with automatic transmission.

Geneva Preview: Chevrolet considering bringing the HHR to Europe

Can this be true? Will Europeans finally get a chance to taste a true-blue, all American Chevrolet family car instead of those “bastardly” rebadged Daewoo’s…? Ok, I’m exaggerating now. Anyway, while Chevrolet says “we’re considering to bringing the HHR to Europe” I’m more than sure that they’ll bring it. Why the heck would they go in all that trouble to show it in Geneva? PRESS RELEASE: CHEVROLET PRESENTS EXCITING HHR IN GENEVA

    • Chevrolet HHR Brings Fun and Functionality to the Compact Segment
    • Unique styling with functional interior
    • Fun to drive and spacious

Chevrolet Europe is considering bringing the HHR to Europe and will unveil the exciting compact model at Geneva motor show on March 6. The HHR is a unique vehicle that combines styling and interior adaptability to create a vehicle suited to all lifestyles and it has a distinct design that was inspired by the 1949 Chevrolet Suburban – the original utility vehicle.

HHR is a four-door vehicle with a rear touch-pad liftgate. Its high roof evokes the look of the innovative 1949 Chevy Suburban. The HHR is easily recognizable with its large, square fender flares and a hemispherical grille. The jeweled lighting effects, as well as a flared, twin-taillamp design in the rear that create a look that is half street machine and half vintage Corvette. Stamped door and window appearances with a one-piece wraparound molding contribute to the clean, detailed design and are uncommon in contemporary vehicles. The HHR’s rear window is flush with the body side.

The HHR has a choice of two technologically sophisticated inline four-cylinder engines, which balances usable power with fuel and emissions efficiency: the 2.2L engine with 149hp and torque of 210 Nm and the 2.4L unit with 175 hp and torque of 228 Nm.
